What Is Noorani Qaida?
What it covers, in order
- The individual Arabic letters and their correct sounds
- The same letters joined at the start, middle and end of words
- Short vowels, then long vowels
- Sukoon, shaddah and tanween
- Basic rules of stopping and the introductory Tajweed that comes with them
- Short practice passages before moving to the Quran itself
Why not skip it
Because the alternative is guessing. A student who moves to the Quran without Qaida can usually recognise familiar words and fakes the rest, and every faked word becomes a habit. Fixing that later takes longer than doing Qaida properly would have.
Qaida is also where the sounds that do not exist in English get built: the heavy letters, the throat letters, the difference between similar sounding pairs. Miss those at the start and they are very hard to add afterwards.
Who it is for
Anyone who cannot yet read Arabic fluently. That includes complete beginners of any age, children starting from scratch, adults who never learned, and people who read a little as a child and want to rebuild on a solid base. In the free trial class the teacher will listen and tell you honestly whether you need Qaida or can go straight to Quran reading.
How it is taught here
One-on-one, 30 minutes a day, Monday to Friday, with the same teacher throughout. Every sound the student makes is heard and corrected in the moment, which is the entire reason Qaida works. £30 per month, first class free.

What is Noorani Qaida?

How long does Noorani Qaida take?
About 4 to 8 months for children with daily one-on-one classes, and often 3 to 5 months for adults.
Can I skip Qaida and go straight to the Quran?
Only if you already read Arabic fluently and correctly. Skipping it usually means guessing at unfamiliar words, and guessed pronunciation becomes a habit that is hard to undo.
What age can a child start Qaida?
Around age 5 or 6 for most children, though some start at 4 in short gentle sessions.
Is Tajweed taught in Qaida?
The basics are built in, particularly correct letter articulation. The full Tajweed rules come in the Quran reading course that follows.
