What Happens in the First Online Quran Lesson
Before the class
- Pick a quiet room and a device with a working camera and microphone. A phone is fine.
- Have a Qaida or mushaf nearby if you own one. If not, the teacher will share what is needed on screen.
- Test the video app once beforehand so the first minutes are not spent troubleshooting.
- If your child is young, plan to sit nearby for this one.
The 30 minutes, roughly
- First few minutes: the teacher introduces themselves and settles the student.
- Middle: a short assessment. Reading a few lines, or repeating letters and sounds for a complete beginner.
- A little teaching: the teacher usually teaches something small so the student leaves having actually learned.
- Last few minutes: what the teacher found, which course fits, and what the first month would cover.
Helping a nervous child
Nerves in the first class are normal and usually gone by the third. Sit beside them where the camera can see you. Do not correct them yourself during the class, let the teacher do it. Keep the first one short if they are struggling, nobody minds.
After the class
The teacher passes their assessment to you, not to your child. If you want to continue, you agree a fixed daily time slot and fees start from there. If you do not, nothing happens and there is no follow up pressure. Either way you will know more about where your child actually is than you did before.
Common questions
Is the first Quran class really free?
Yes. It lasts 30 minutes, there is nothing to pay, and there is no obligation to continue afterwards.
What do we need for the first class?
A phone, tablet or laptop with camera and microphone, a quiet room, and a Qaida or mushaf if you have one.
Will the teacher in the trial be our actual teacher?
Yes. The trial is with the teacher who would take your child’s classes, not a demonstration teacher.
What if my child is too shy to speak?
Common and fine. Sit beside them, let the teacher lead, and keep the first class short if needed. Most children settle within two or three classes.
What happens after the trial?
The teacher tells you where the student is and which course fits. If you continue, you agree a fixed daily time slot. If not, there is no follow up.
